DelPiccolo hospitalized for severe headaches

SILVERTHORNE – Silverthorne Mayor Lou DelPiccolo was hospitalized in St. Anthony’s Central Hospital in Denver late last week, after suffering for several days from severe headaches. Doctors found an aneurysm in his neck and operated Friday to correct the problem.

He is expected to remain in the hospital until sometime next week.

Hospital officials listed DelPiccolo in critical condition Friday, though town manager Kevin Batchelder said the mayor told him earlier this week he was in stable condition.

DelPiccolo wore a neck brace to the April 23 council meeting.

“Originally, he thought it might have been a pinched nerve, but the headaches persisted,” Batchelder said.

“We’re all concerned,” Batchelder said. “We’re hoping for a quick and speedy recovery.”

DelPiccolo, 64, was first elected Silverthorne’s mayor in 1988, and is serving his second term.
