Dennis Archer

Dennie passed away in Mesa, Arizona after a courageous eight-month battle with cancer. He was born in Longmont, Colorado to Gladys and Rex Archer. Graduating from Longmont H.S. in 1959, he attended Mesa State College and then became a journeyman and master electrician. He was a member of Local Union 68 I.B.E.W. for 20 years.

In 1975, the Archer family moved to Summit County, where Dennie co-owned and managed two ski rental shops. Retiring in 2002, he finally realized his dream to ski “only on sunny days,” and, in 2013, he and Karen moved to Mesa to further enjoy “sunny days.”

Dennie is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Karen; his son, Eric, of Dana Point, California; his daughter, Holly (Paul) of Silverthorne; his sister, Conee; his brother, Ed; his sister-in-law, Nancy Heil; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennie enjoyed singing and playing his guitars, skiing, hiking, bird watching, wild mushroom hunting, enjoying wild flowers and spending time with family & friends. He was truly a good man who lived by the Golden Rule, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of his life will take place next summer in the Colorado mountains.
