Denver airport’s March passenger traffic is flat, flights decrease

Passenger traffic at Denver International Airport in March remained virtually unchanged over the same month in 2012 while the year-to-date total increased by half a percent from the same period a year ago.

The 4,456,431 passengers passing through DIA in March 2013 was slightly less than March 2012’s passenger total of 4,458,044.

“Despite the snowy March that reduced the overall number of flights, our year-to-date numbers remain on track,” said manager of aviation Kim Day, in a news release. “We’re looking forward to the busy summer travel season, and for the new flights that will accompany it — including the upcoming Denver to Tokyo route that is scheduled to begin service in June.”

Despite the relatively flat passenger counts, the overall flight operations for the month of March decreased from 52,953 in 2012 to 49,956 in 2013.

March’s mail, freight and express cargo operations decreased by 5.6 percent compared to the 2012 figure.
