Denver park transformed for Taste of Colorado

DENVER ” Civic Center Park in downtown Denver is being transformed from the scene of anti-war protests and marches to the center of fun, food and music this holiday weekend.

A Taste of Colorado was set to start at 4 p.m. Saturday, a little later than usual to give crews time to get the park ready after activities related to the Democratic National Convention that ended Thursday.

Susan Rogers Kark of the Downtown Denver Partnership says the Labor Day weekend festival has coincided with several other events during its 25 years, including baseball and football games and the Denver Grand Prix.

The event runs through Monday and is expected to draw more than 500,000 people. Area restaurants will be offering their fare and there will be music on five stages in the park.
