Denver woman named to state education board

DENVER Former Denver School Board President Elaine Gantz Berman has been chosen to fill a vacancy on the state Board of Education created when Rico Munn was nominated to a position in Gov. Bill Ritter’s Cabinet.Berman was named Sunday by a Democratic Party vacancy committee. The party gets to fill the seat because Munn was a Democrat.Ritter nominated Munn to be executive director of the state Regulatory Agencies Department.Berman served on the Denver school board for eight years. She will represent the Denver area on the state Board of Education, which oversees public-school education in Colorado.
