Denver’s historic Brown Palace Hotel for sale
DENVER — The investment group that owns Denver’s historic Brown Palace Hotel says the property is for sale.
The Denver Post reported Monday the owners decided the time was right to put the 121-year-old hotel on the market.
It wasn’t immediately known if the owners had established an asking price. Hotel general manager Marcel Pitton said the sale is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2014.
The triangular-shaped building, built in 1892, was an early example of an atrium-style hotel. It has hosted several U.S. presidents and other dignitaries, including members of the Beatles.
The complex includes the 241-room Brown Palace and a 231-room Comfort Inn.
The current ownership group includes the hotel’s management company, Quorum Hotels and Resorts. The group has owned the hotel for 30 years.
