Developing a master plan for property by the gondola
February 16, 2008
BRECKENRIDGE ” The future development of Vail Resorts and Town of Breckenridge properties surrounding the BreckConnect Gondola is taking shape, as a team has formed to create a new master plan for the area.
Recently, the team and an outside design consultant decided on key components of the project that were presented at a Breckenridge Town Council worksesion.
Compatibility with the Town, a balance of transit and transportation, world-class resident and visitor experience and an authentic relationship to the Town while making the area a seamless transition to Main Street were the “design drivers” they came up with. They also hope to create an area that will have year-round activity and community acceptance.
“I think the first couple meetings have been educational on both sides of what we need to give and what we need to take,” said Councilmember Eric Mamula who is representing the council on the team.
DTJ Design, the consultant, has just started the planning process. The next step will be to initiate design concepts throughout the next month and a half “so people will have something to react to,” a consultant told the council at this week’s worksesion.
