Dick Dixson dies at 56 after long illness

Private services will be held this summer for Dick Dixson, who grew up in Summit County and died May 17 at his home in Hermiston, Ore., at the age of 56.

Dixson was born June 1, 1946, in Denver and raised in Summit County, where he graduated from Summit High School in 1965. He served in the Army before returning to Colorado and going to work for Sturgeon Electric Co. in Denver until he fell ill last year.

Dixson enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Patsy Deterts of Summit County. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Jo, of Hermiston; son Dick of North Carolina, daughters Dina of North Carolina, Piper of Nevada and Lynsy of Alaska; eight grandchildren; brother Dan of Salida and sister Debbie of Poncha Springs, Colo.
