DILLON ” Mountain Art Festivals presents the Dillon Art Festival, Friday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, in downtown Dillon with free admission.

More than 65 jury-selected fine artists from around the United States will present their one-of-a-kind creations at the festival.

Patrons can expect a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, jewelry, wood, fiber arts, photography and ceramics.

Several nationally known artists will be present at the Dillon Art Festival including the husband and wife painting team Schaefer-Miles. Kevin Miles and Wendy Schaefer-Miles create vivid landscapes inspired by the grandeur of the American landscape, from tropical gardens in the South, to the rain forests of the Pacific Northwest. John Gibson, a gourd artist, sees a gourd the way a painter views a blank canvas. Gibson paints, designs and engraves each piece.

The gourds require a lengthy multi-step process beginning with washing, cutting, sanding and leveling. Next they are dyed for color, creating a three-dimensional look. Final designs are then etched in with a high speed drill. View his work at http://www.spiritwindsedona.com/Gibson/Gibson.html.
