DILLON – During a ski visit to his sister, Andy Papa discovered that the bowling alley in Dillon had been closed for over a year. He, being an avid bowler, decided to buy it. That was in February 2002. Now, five years later, he’s shutting it down. He’s planning to close the bowling alley down on May 23, if all goes well, for renovations.

“I plan on putting in a sports lounge and pool hall,” Papa said. “I’m hoping that the place will only be closed for three weeks. The closing is guaranteed, but the dates aren’t.”Papa’s plans include putting in six to eight pool tables, and seven to 10 flat screen televisions. The sports lounge will have couches and be named F-7. Additionally, the bowling alley will be modernized.

“I’m going to expand the bar and the kitchen and update the ball return machines and the counters. I’d like to change the entrance to the bowling alley, too. Right now, I’m working on the permits.”

Papa has more plans in the works for other sections of the Dillon Complex. “There used to be four theaters in this complex before they moved across to the Dillon Ridge Shopping Complex, so there’s a lot of space.” Papa is working with the building’s owner, Abbas Rajabi, to develop more family attractions that will appeal to the community’s youth and tourists.
