Dillon doles out the nonprofit dough

DILLON ” The town of Dillon handed out more than $163,000 in 2005 to local nonprofit organizations in the form of labor costs, reduced or waived rental fees, lowered or free fees and cash donations.

– The town’s largest chunk of money went to the Lake Dillon Foundation for the Performing Arts, which received $78, 512.92 through labor of $5,046.92, waived and reduced rental fees of $13,000, a waived business license of $100, the foundation’s lease of Old Town Hall for $36,366 and donations of $24,000.

– Dillon contributed $44,621.18 toward the popular BBQ at the Summit event and $1,932.62 toward the Rotary Ice Melt contest.



– Summit County Youth Baseball received a total of $1,492.55 through labor costs for grooming the fields and maintenance costs.

– The Dillon Community Church received $5,262.69 through waived or reduced rental fees and the labor costs for cleaning up the amphitheater after its events.



– The Dillon Yacht Club received $4,103.11 through staff time, slip rentals and dry storage.

– The remaining $28,021.87 went toward a host of other organizations, including MS Walk, Summit Historical Society, Make A Difference Day and Ride For Life.

The town of Silverthorne contributed $63,707.50 to nonprofits in 2005, while the town of Breckenridge announced earlier this month it would donate $1.9 million to nonprofits and community programs in 2006.
