Dillon, keep the parade
I love the parade. I have been in the parade. I don’t go to Frisco and Breckenridge, because the parade is part of our local identity and a great opportunity for our residents to directly participate in celebrating our independence.
The reasons the council gave for canceling the parade don’t really make much sense. Every parade in the country has dealt with the problem of children chasing candy … just don’t throw candy. Staffing isn’t a problem when you have volunteers. And how can the council use the excuse of low attendance and traffic gridlock in the same breath?
It seems to me that someone just doesn’t want to go to the effort to keep this tradition alive.
