Dillon man killed in Highway 9 accident

GRAND COUNTY – A Dillon man was killed early Monday morning when the car he was riding in collided with a heavy duty truck on Highway 9 near the Grand County line.Danilo Jimenez, 29, was pronounced dead on-scene, said Grand County Coroner Brenda Bock.The driver was transported to St. Anthony Central in Denver, Bock said. The driver of the truck was not injured, according to a Colorado State Patrol accident report.The accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. when the driver of a Honda Accord, which Jimenez was riding in, lost control in the northbound lane of traffic and went off the right side of the roadway, the accident report said. The driver then swerved back onto the roadway and off the left side of the roadway, before veering back onto the road and colliding with the truck.The report said the road conditions were icy and snowpacked at the time of the accident with light blowing snow.
