Dillon Pro Challenge Celebration: August 14 to 18

As Summit County prepares for the USA Pro Challenge to come to town, Dillon is kicking off the festivities with a party on Sunday, Aug. 16 featuring two Colorado Bluegrass bands, the Railsplitters and the Haunted Wind Chimes. The Railsplitters will hit the stage at 6 p.m., with the Haunted Windchimes following at 8 p.m., for a vigorous evening of bluegrass acoustic and roots music.

The concert marks the beginning of five days of celebrating, with free Friday, Saturday and Sunday night concerts at the Dillon Amphitheatre and Monday and Tuesday night shows at Arapahoe Basin.

The USA Pro Cycling Challenge features routes that wind through all of Summit County’s communities and includes a sprint through the Town of Dillon before heading up to the Arapahoe Basin Mountain Top Finish. The day of the challenge, Dillon will host a showing of cult classic cycling movie American Flyers.

Local restaurants will be serving up tasty samplings and craft beer will be flowing at the Dillon Amphitheater. Sit back and watch the peloton sprint through town from one of Dillon’s patio viewing locations. Riders are expected to breeze through town at approximately 2:30 p.m., depending on racer speeds.

After the dust settles, head back down to Dillon Amphitheater to watch the exciting mountain top finish from a Jumbotron.
