Dillon’s free concert series kicks off Friday

The Nacho Men will headline the entertainment during the 90th Annual Oregon Trail Days celebration. Their performance is set for Saturday, July 16, at Five Rocks Amphitheater.

DILLON – Once again, the Lake Dillon Theatre Company is presenting a series of free summer concerts Saturday nights at the Lake Dillon Amphitheatre. This year’s Sunset at the Summit concert series kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday with The Nacho Men, a Summit County favorite. No pets, smoking or outside alcohol are allowed at these free shows, which all run from 7-9 p.m. Here’s a look at the lineup for this season:July 1 – The Nacho Men The unique combination of dance music, costume changes, choreography and humor makes The Nacho Men Colorado’s favorite musical performance group. From Las Vegas casinos to luxury cruise ships, from Mile High Stadium to the Red Rocks Amphitheater (where they opened for The Doobie Brothers), The Nacho Men are a hit. July 2 – Air Force Band Don’t miss the annual tribute to our service men and women. A concert by the Air Force Academy Band will follow our tribute. The evening will end with an amazing fireworks show over Lake Dillon, choreographed to music and simucast on Krystal 93.July 3 – Doo Wop Denny Lifelong guitarist/vocalist, DooWop Denny delivers a feel-good mix of 50’s & 60’s rockin’ oldies, island tunes, slow dancing and more. His knack for connecting with the audience and playing to the crowd brings excitement to the dance floor, smiles on faces, and a whole lotta’ fun for any event! July 9 – Ron Ivory The MilesApart Band is a 7-piece band that can feature up to 10 players including dynamic female vocalists. Explosive horn lines, intricate keyboard styling, rhythmic drumbeats, exceptional guitar sound and heart-felt bass add to the intoxicating vocals and harmonies. July 16 – The Hot Lunch Band Hot Lunch is a high-energy, contemporary funk band from Denver. Their music is danceable, their show totally entertaining. Every performance elicits rave reviews, making Hot Lunch the most-requested and most-watched band in the Colorado-Rocky Mountain area. July 23 – Hazel Miller Band Hazel Miller is not just a great singer, “she is a force of nature!” said the Rocky Mountain News. Her voice has been called “stunning, moving and powerful.” Whether she is singing blues, jazz, pop, or Gospel, her voice charges the songs with a primal dose of genuine soul. July 30 – Vintage Rock & Roll Vintage Rock and Soul is one of the premier acts in the Denver metropolitan area. With its versatility, pristine vocals, and incredible groove, Vintage will have you on the dance floor right from the first song. This band leaves no one behind. The song list spans everything from jazz standards to 60’s and 70’s motown to classic rock and blues. Aug. 6 – Hamilton Loomis Hamilton Loomis took his mentor, Bo Diddley’s advice. It speaks volumes when the likes of Diddley, Johnny “Clyde” Copeland, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, and Albert Collins take you under their wings. The Texas sensation is at the forefront of bringing roots music into the 21st century and redefining it for a contemporary audience.Aug. – Jakarta Jakarta is now the premier wedding/corporate band in the State of Colorado. They are a diverse but funky nine-piece band that can be as large as 11. They were the lead band for the DNC 2004 chosen to perform in Boston and were the premier band for the DNC Denver & RNC Minnesota 2008. Jakarta guarantees everyone from all age groups to be up on the dance floor dancing all night long. Aug. 20 – Ol’ Blue Eyes & His Band All things Frank Sinatra – join Ol’ Blue Eyes & His Band as they return for another wonderful concert celebrating, the man, the life, Frank Sinatra. Aug. 27 – New Sensation New Sensation will transport you back to the days of MTV and mullets! All the fun of those “Video Days” are brought back with a performance of this exciting band which features some of Colorado’s finest musicians. Lead vocalist Alton King has one of the most amazing voices you will ever hear and really brings the classic ‘stadium rock’ anthems to life. The great artists of the 80’s are all represented; from U2, Men at Work and Rick Springfield to Prince, The Cars, Van Halen and of course INXS!Sept. 3 – Bluffet If you’ve given up your efforts to book Jimmy Buffett … This band offers the next best thing! If imitation is the best form of flattery, Bluffett’s tribute to Jimmy Buffett & his Coral Reefer band is a must see!
