Director named at Main St. Station

daily news staff report
Summit Daily/Reid Williams Warren Van Skike left Carmel, Calif., to take over marketing at Hyatt's Main Street Station.

BRECKENRIDGE – Warren Van Skike was named director of sales and marketing for Hyatt Main Street Station, a four-season fractional resort on Maggie Pond in downtown Breckenridge.According to the company’s project manager, Chuck Madison, Van Skike is “eminently qualified” for the new position.Hyatt Main Street Station is a development of East West Partners and the Hyatt company.

Most recently, Van Skike worked at the Park Hyatt and its fractional sales sister property, Highlands Inn, A Hyatt Vacation Club Resort, both in Carmel, Calif. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade with the ownership division of the Marriott company, followed by several years as a senior manager with Club Intrawest, a co-ownership Canadian real estate developer. During that time, he was involved with an industry evolution as upscale hotel companies such as Hyatt, Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton entered the fractional market and transformed the old time-share concept to the deeded, co-ownership concept.

The challenge of developing a co-ownership property appeals to Van Skike, who had similar responsibilities at the Carmel property, according to a company statement. “Hyatt Main Street Station is on par in terms of quality with any Hyatt I’ve been to,” Van Skike said. “It’s unique, and a rare opportunity because there is only a limited amount of inventory that can be developed around Maggie Pond. This is just about the last, and I’m excited to be part of it.”He noted that 70 percent of its residences are already sold and that he is moving the Hyatt Main Street Station’s sales office on site from its present downtown location.

Van Skike is a native of Rapid City, S.D., where he was introduced to the hospitality industry as manager of a 13,000-acre campground in 1982, shortly after being discharged from the Navy. Five years later, he headed for California, where he joined the Marriott organization. He and wife, Connie, a Denver native, are avid skiers, as are their three sons. Jeremiah, the oldest son, recently graduated with a master’s degree in music and will soon join the U.S. Army band. Benjamin is an Army Airborne Ranger stationed in Alaska. Joshua, the youngest son, recently graduated from college with a degree in criminal justice and is heading for training with the U.S. Coast GuardHyatt Main Street Station’s office is currently located at 117 S. Main Street. The move of the on-site sales facility to 505 S. Main Street is scheduled for Sept. 1.
