Don Ruff dies in Alma

Don G. Ruff, a local timber framer, died at his home in Alma Sept. 21. He was 43.Don was born June 8, 1966, and spent most of his early years in California. He moved with his family to Bountiful, Utah, and graduated from Bountiful High School. He also attended Salt Lake Community College where he earned an AA degree. He met his former wife, Jennifer McLing, in Salt Lake City where they were both students and performers of bellydance with Kismet Dance Studio. Don had fulfilled his lifelong dream of living in the forest of the Colorado Rockies and running his own timber-framing business. He was known for his artistic abilities in timber framing and fine finish work in wood. His work had been featured in the local Parade of Homes and the Timber Frame Magazine. Don is survived by his son Kevin, Alma; sister Randi Verrier and brother Rusty, Salt Lake City Utah; father Ron, Palm Springs Calif.; and mother Rennie Howerton, Utah. Memorial Services will be held at the LDS Chapel in Frisco at noon on Saturday. The family will establish an education trust fund for Don’s son, Kevin, for those wishing to contribute.
