Donate to help needy families

Join local Girl Scout troops, fire fighters, police officers, Colorado Mountain Express van drivers and other volunteers today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in a communitywide nonperishable food, clothing and toys drive to benefit needy families in Summit County.The first annual Summit Sharing & Caring drive will benefit the Summit County Food Bank and the Summit County Family and Intercultural Resource Center Thrift Store. Donations will help a growing number of needy families have warm clothes, toys and food for the holiday season.Senior Girl Scout Nicolette Bouchard created the drive as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award Project, the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. So far, this is the first Gold Award project in Summit County. Bouchard hopes to create the largest annual community food drive in Summit County. Drop-off locations are Safeway in Frisco, the Summit County Justice Center in Breckenridge, Office Max in Silverthorne and area schools and grocery stores.
