Donations sought for our Summit County troops

The Rotary Club of Summit County will pack Christmas boxes to send to our Summit County sponsored military personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan on December 1. As we enjoy this holiday week, we ask that you donate an item or two to the bins located in City Market stores, Safeway, Walmart and Walgreens. You will find the bins at exit locations.

In addition to the donated items, young people of Summit County have expressed their appreciation for the efforts of these troops to preserve our freedom. Students in Middle School and SOS Outreach have created handmade cards with accompanying letters which will be included in the Christmas packages.

Tax deductible cash contributions, which are used to help defray mailing expenses, are appreciated, also. Please make checks payable to Rotary Club of Summit County Charitable Fund and note for “Troop Support” on the check. Include your address, and a letter noting your contribution will be provided.

This effort is a county wide thank-you; an expression of our appreciation to these all volunteer military personnel. Thank you Summit County for supporting the Troop Support Program. By the way, if you have family or friends serving in Iraq or Afghanistan that we don’t know about, please send us their names and addresses by e-mail to SummitRotary@aol.com , or call (970)-453-4778.

As a Summit Daily News reader, you make our work possible.

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection. The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.
