Don’t confuse Christianity with religion and hate

In response to W. Gerald Bird Jr.’s tirade against “loving Christians,” I find it irresponsible, hateful and totally uninformed as to what real Christians are about.

Yeah, you can blame all Christians for the evils of this world and what has happened in the past. But I think Mr. Bird is confusing Christianity with religion.

The Christians I know do not promote hate as Mr. Bird suggests, but instead promote love and tolerance, even to those who do not think the same or live the same as them.

That is God’s teachings if you read the Bible. Just because Christians do not believe in the lifestyle of homosexuals does not mean that they are promoting hate, only that it is their opinion and reading of the Bible that God does not approve.

It does not mean that God loves them any less than the next person, in fact, Jesus taught it is exactly the disenfranchised (if you will) who are the ones that he cares about the most.

I find it interesting that someone like Mr. Bird can be accepted in his hatred toward Christians, but should I write the same sort of rubbish about the Muslim faith or Jewish faith or any other faith, I would be ridiculed and persecuted because I would be perceived as having no tolerance toward these faiths.

As in everything in life, there are good people and bad people in every faith of the world. If you don’t believe it, ask the families of the 9-11 tragedy. It is the simple lack of tolerance that caused that kind of hatred toward Americans.
