Don’t forget upcoming fire ballot issue

The Lake Dillon and Snake River Fire Districts are urging voters to get informed on the upcoming ballot issues that will be presented for vote on May 2. There will be two ballot questions regarding an inclusion of the Snake River Fire Protection District into the Lake Dillon Fire Protection District. Only voters in Snake River district, including Montezuma, Keystone, Summit Cove and Summerwood, will be voting on these issues.The first question asks if the Snake River Fire Protection District can be included as part of the Lake Dillon Fire Protection District. The second question relates to the dissolution of the SRFPD. Both questions must be approved for the inclusion to occur. If one question is not passed, then Lake Dillon and Snake River Fire Protection Districts will continue to operate as a functionally consolidated fire authority as they have since March 2005. However, the two board of directors for each district will still need to remain in place.Voters are not being asked to decide on a mill levy increase. The designated polling place for the election is at the Summit Cove Fire Station, 0434 Summit Drive. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m on May 2. You must be a registered voter that owns property or is a resident of at least 30 days in the SRFPD. You can also vote in advance by requesting an absentee ballot from our Administration Station 401 Blue River Parkway in Silverthorne or by calling (970) 513-4102.
