Dear Foodhedz and the Summit County Community: A heart-felt thank you for the wonderful, generous and continued support at the fundraiser at Foodhedz March 12 for the Douglas Mendel Cambodian Relief Fund.

This last trip in February was amazing, for three firefighters from Denver International Airport came to Cambodia for five days of training at two airports (Phnom Penh and Siem Reap) and a fire station in Phnom Penh to over 100 firefighters on a variety of topics. The topics included a basic hazardous materials awareness class, a cargo tactics class and an incident review of an airline crash at Denver International Airport in December of 2008.

A container was shipped in January that arrived in early February with 115 new firefighter helmets, 5,000 feet of used hose, 200 pairs of new wildland pants, 17 new wildland shirts, 28 used nozzles, 200 books on a variety of subjects relating to fire science, 75 fire extinguishers, six backboards, and 75 sets of used bunker pants and coats. The four of us saw the contents of the container at a warehouse at the Ministry of the Interior in Phnom Penh, and over the coming months most of the supplies will be distributed to some of the fire stations around Cambodia.

Once again, thank you David and Patti and staff at Foodhedz and Summit County for the continued support!
