Douglas Roessel: A rockin’ success

Douglas Roessel, Director
Summit Academy of Rock

The Summit Academy of Rock Jam Camp was a huge success. I was blown away at the talent, the interest and the attitude of all the kids involved. The dress rehearsal went off without too many problems and the parents were impressed with how far the kids got. So I must say thank you to a couple of people.

First I need to thank all the kids and parents involved. They made the event fun, and we could not have done it without them.

I would also like to thank the business community and the Town of Dillon for the support. Many of the businesses in Dillon were in the direct line of fire of this event, so I thank them for their understanding. In particular I would like to thank Qdoba for providing their services and food. Jersey Boy’s Pizza needs a big thank-you. The pizza was a hit with all the kids and the instructors. Pug Ryan’s must be thanked for the use of the decompression chamber, thanks guys.

Finally, I need to thank the instructors. They worked extremely hard from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with little or no breaks. Their professionalism showed through at our dress rehearsal when the kids performed in front of their parents and peers. Thanks to Tim Rafferty, Sean Retz and Dean Castellini. Also a big thank you to Ivo Waerlop for teaching the two-hour bass clinic.

Rock on!
