Draft plans available for water diversion projects

Draft fish and wildlife mitigation and enhancement plans for Denver Water’s Moffat Collection System Project and the Northern Water Municipal Subdistrict’s Windy Gap Firming Project were made available last week for a two-week public review period.

The two proposed projects are to move water from the Western Slope to the Front Range.

Comments are due by Feb. 24, at which point Division of Wildlife staff will review the feedback and provide input to the water companies before they present their final mitigation plans in March.

The Wildlife Commission’s review is part of the federal permitting process for each project.
