DU student dies from injuries sustained in skiing accident

Joe Lubar, a 21-year-old University of Denver student from Milwaukee, died Friday following injuries he sustained skiing Jan. 25 at Copper Mountain. According to a press release from the Summit County Coroner, Lubar was skiing the double-black diamond Schaefer’s Run when he fell and tumbled through some rocks and suffered traumatic brain injuries.

Lubar was first taken to St. Anthony’s Summit Medical Center and then transferred to St. Anthony’s Central Hospital in Denver where he succumbed to his brain injuries early Friday. morning.
