Each parade float celebrated freedoms

I seldom feel compelled to write letters to the editor and do not consider myself to be a religious person. I do however, feel passionately about our rights as citizens of this country to promote our causes – be they personal, political or religious.

I can’t help but wonder if letter-writer Dan Marion of Summit Cove (SDN, July 22) would have felt as insulted by the messages displayed on the Red Bus if it had been promoting his own religion of Judaism rather.

Mr. Marion, I would imagine the Santa on the town of Frisco float was a symbol of the “Santa’s Calling Program” done each year by its employees for the enjoyment of our local youth, as is their right.

Each and every float displayed in that parade was done in celebration of those individuals freedoms and people’s right to express themselves in which ever form they choose.
