Early morning roll-over proves fatal

OFFICERS GULCH – A roll-over accident early Tuesday morning on Interstate 70 left one man dead and others injured.

An eastbound driver lost control of his vehicle about 4:15 a.m. in the vicinity of Officers Gulch. The vehicle rolled three times and ejected one of the passengers.

Roger Scarlottie, 52, of Broomfield, was pronounced dead shortly after the accident from head and neck injuries.

The driver and other passengers were transported to Summit Medical Center with minor injuries.

The Colorado State Patrol responded to the accident and said it’s important for drivers to remember that all vehicle occupants should wear seat belts.

The Officers Gulch area is infamous for roll-over and fatal accidents.
