Education is needed about growth

RE: If we don’t grow, we die (SDN, Sept. 15)I am writing in reply to Cleo Hoegemeyer’s letter. I am concerned with that kind of logic. Many of the problems in the world are caused by, not solved by unchecked growth. Can our nation solve our energy problems by increasing our fossil fuel consumption? Should Frisco grow and annex all of the land to Farmer’s Korner or Breckenridge in order to survive? I am not against growth, and I am not necessarily against development on the 9.4-acre parcel. However, it is important to make educated choices concerning growth and development. Framing the 9.4-acre parcel argument as “Grow or Die” is counterproductive to the real debate. If you listen carefully, you can also hear all of the pine beetles in the County whispering “Grow or Die.”
