BOULDER, Colo. – A 20-year-old Colorado man is dead after being shot in an apparent attempted robbery in Boulder.

The Boulder County coroner’s office has identified the victim as Todd Walker of Edwards. The Daily Camera reports that Walker was attending the University of New Hampshire, where he was a redshirt freshman football player.

Police say Walker was shot around 2 a.m. Friday near the University of Colorado. Authorities say Walker and a woman were walking home after going to parties in the area when they were approached by a man wearing a black bandanna over his face.

Police say there was a confrontation and the woman pulled off the man’s bandanna and he pulled out a gun. He allegedly fired a shot in the air and a second shot that hit Walker.

The suspect is described as a clean-shaven, white male with blondish-brown hair.
