Ellen to be the next CoverGirl

Ellen Degeneres? That’s probably not who you’d expect to be picked as the newest spokesmodel for CoverGirl Cosmetics, but the comedienne, 50, just confirmed the news on “The Ellen Degeneres Show.” The Emmy award- winning talk show host will join Drew Barrymore, Rihanna, and of course, veteran Christie Brinkley as the new face of one of the biggest makeup brands in the world. It sounds like Covergirl picked a timely representative of their brand, especially in the wake of the Sarah Palin phenomenon and gay marriage legalization. Ellen did just get married to actress Portia de Rossi and she does embody the anti-glam librarian look.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Brangelina, mainly because Angelina stole Brad away from my favorite actress, Jen Aniston. Although I still feel for Jen, it’s getting harder and harder to maintain dislike for this annoyingly famous couple. The couple is like the gift that keeps on giving and their latest donation is icing on the cake. Although probably pocket change to these two, who bank over $15 million a movie, the couple have donated $2 million to Global Heath Committee to establish a center to aid kids affected by Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia. The center will allow kids to receive medical, education and social services and will be modeled after the Cambodian center they started in their adopted son Maddox’s name, who was born in the country. The Ethiopian branch will be named after their adopted daughter, Zahara, who was born in Ethiopia. This latest donation is one of many from the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which unselfishly donates to many causes.

Another “SNL” big-wig is leaving the show, but then again, they eventually always do. Following in friend/co-star Tina Fey’s footsteps, funny girl Amy Poehler is leaving “Saturday Night Live” to do a television spinoff of “The Office.” Poehler has proven her acting ability in hit movies such as “Mean Girls,” and “Baby Mama” (which both co-starred Fey). Fey left SNL two years ago to do the highly acclaimed hit show, “30 Rock,” and that proved to be the right decision. You may not be a fan of Hillary Clinton’s, but no one can resist Poehler’s dead-on impression of Clinton on “SNL.” Tune in through the November elections because after that, Poehler is going on maternity leave to have her first baby and isn’t coming back anytime soon. Meanwhile, Fey will be returning to “SNL” to assist Poehler in mocking politicians through the election, starring as none other than Sarah Palin.

It’s going to be hard ” Boyz II Men hard ” to say goodbye to yesterday. SNL was dangerous, late-night, last-minute, and star-studded, but like any good drug, you need to know when to put it down.
