BRECKENRIDGE ” A failed piece of equipment caused a power outage in Breckenridge Friday. About 1,500 Xcel Energy customers were without power for two hours.

The power went out at 3 p.m. and was restored just after 5 p.m.

The outage was caused by an insulator that failed, said Xcel Energy spokeswoman Margarita Alarcon. The insulator was physically replaced and power restored.

The outage affected customers in the vicinity of Peak 7, Tiger Road, Airport Road and Summit Estates.
