Eric “Sunshine” Krivanek, 42, drowned Sept. 1in Buena Vista. He was raised in Summit County from the time he was 2 years old and no matter how many other places he lived in the country, he always ended up back where he loved most, the mountains of Colorado. He graduated from high school at Green Mountain Valley School, a ski racing academy in Waitsfield, Vt., and then studied at Western State College in Gunnison.

He is survived by his best friend and girl friend, Jessica Wiener of Leadville; his mother, Roddi Krivanek of Bethesda, Md.; his father, stepmother and sister, Vince, Cindy and Olivia Krivanek of San Diego; and his grandmother, Polly Touzalin of Highlands, N.C. Eric was the “sunshine” in many people’s lives and will be lovingly remembered by his family and his many friends from coast to coast.
