Ericka Schriefer, 24, of Fort Collins, was found in cardiac arrest around 10 a.m. on the black Formidable trail, near some trees. She had suffered head and neck fractures, which caused her death, the coroner said.

Schriefer was taken to St. Anthony Copper Mountain Clinic by Flight for Life and pronounced dead at 10:50 a.m. She was wearing a helmet.

The press release said Schriefer was from the Chicago area and working in Fort Collins. She came to Summit County for the day by herself.
