Ex-golf coach faces sex-assault charge

CRAIG – A former high school girls golf coach was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault for allegedly having sex with a student.Police said Thomas Jay Dockstader, 45, was arrested Tuesday on charges of sexual assault on a child by one in position of trust, sexual assault on a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.Moffat County School Superintendent Pete Bergmann said Dockstader resigned Thursday as girls golf coach at Moffat County High School and eighth-grade boys basketball coach at Craig Middle School.Police investigators alleged Dockstader had a sexual relationship with a high school student for at least a year when she was a junior and senior. She now is 18.Dockstader, who has been a golf pro at the Yampa Valley Golf Course for nine years, was being held under $50,000 bail.
