FRISCO – The Summit Community Care Clinic not only has a new building on the way, but also a new director. Jim Berg was recently hired as executive director of the Community Care Clinic, which will be constructed adjacent to the new hospital in Frisco.Berg has been a part-time resident of Summit County for many years and has served on the board of Bristlecone Health Services in Frisco for the last two years. He is currently finishing up a project in Las Cruces, N.M., and will be moving to Frisco full-time to take on the position. Funding for Berg’s position comes from a grant provided by the Department of Local Affairs, the Colorado Rural Health Center and the Colorado Rural Development Council through the Healthcare Funding Partnership Project. The Community Care Clinic has been under the Summit County government since its inception in 1994. Last year, Summit County helped organize an advisory board to make the clinic a self-standing nonprofit. The county will allow the clinic to use space in the proposed medical office building to be located next to the new hospital. The clinic recently received 501(c)(3) designation, which will allow it to take charitable contributions from individuals and businesses and give tax-deductible receipts.A recent gift of $10,000 from the Summit County Rotary Club will help to outfit the facility with necessary equipment and furniture. The clinic is currently open on Monday evenings and all day Wednesday and Friday in the Summit County Public Health offices in the County Commons.
