Fairplay: A good place to live

Dirk FowlerFairplay

It seems there are a lot of complaints about Fairplay. Let me tell you about my town. I had lived in Summit County the better part of 17 years before moving to Fairplay about a year ago. I built several homes in Summit as well as Park County over the last several years.Fairplay is by far the easiest to build in, by way of building departments and dealing with town boards.I found out after moving over there that I have time in the morning, driving to work, to plan my day. I work two jobs: real estate and construction. During the drive home, I can relax and get the troubles of the day behind me.Recently, we got a grocery store and no more having to go to City Market or Safeway during spring break and holidays. YEAH! The hotel changed hands a couple of months back. In a lot of good ways, it has not changed, but a woman plays the piano at dinner several nights a week. She is good.We have a monthly publication that lets us know what is going on each month. In the summer, something big is happening each weekend. Now we have the street lights along Highway 9. A good friend of mine told me that he knows his wife loves him and wants him home when he gets there because porch lights are on. Fairplay is welcoming you with its lights. It gives a feeling of safety and home. Thank you Johnny and the town of Fairplay. As for my family and me, we have found a good home and we like what Fairplay is and what it is becoming.
