Fifth- and sixth-grade passports introduces new skiers and riders

Daily News staff report

Colorado Ski Country USA is bringing back its Passport Program of free and discounted access to Colorado’s resorts for fifth- and sixth-graders this season.

The organization is also including last year’s successful First Class lesson, which provides complimentary professional instruction to the youth in the program.

The 5th Grade Passport is available to all fifth graders, giving them three days of free skiing at each of the 21 participating member resorts in the Colorado Ski Country USA trade organization. The 6th Grade Passport allows sixth graders four days of skiing at the same resorts for $99, equaling 84 ski days for less than $1.20 per day.

Fifth-graders new to skiing and snowboarding can also benefit from the First Class lesson program, which gives them a voucher for one free ski or snowboard lesson, including rental equipment, anytime during January’s Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. Parents can choose from among 18 participating resorts. Advance reservations are required for this product.

Resorts participating in the Passports for 2011-12 include: Arapahoe Basin, Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk, Copper Mountain, Crested Butte, Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort, Echo Mountain, Eldora, Howelsen Hill, Loveland, Monarch, Powderhorn, Ski Cooper, Snowmass, SolVista, Steamboat, Sunlight, Telluride, Winter Park and Wolf Creek.
