Fifth judicial district seeking applicants


DENVER – The Fifth Judicial District Nominating Commission will meet in the near future to select nominees for appointment by Governor Bill Owens to the office of district judge for the Fifth Judicial District.

To be eligible to fill the vacancy, applicants must be qualified electors of the Fifth Judicial District and must have been admitted to the practice of law in Colorado for five years. The annual salary for the position is $104,637.

The initial term of office of a district judge is a provisional term of two years. Thereafter, the incumbent district judge, if approved by the voters, has a term of six years.

The original and seven copies of the application should be filed with the ex-officio chair at the earliest possible time, but must be received in that office no later than 5 p.m. June 13. Late applications will not be considered.
