Film festival kicks off today

The 25th Annual Breckenridge Festival of Film begins today with a series of independent films from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at town hall.The opening premier “Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang” starring Val Kilmer and Robert Downey Jr. is today at 7 p.m. at Summit High School, followed by the post premier party at 9:30 p.m. at Blue River Bistro. Cost is $5 at the door and includes complimentary Smirnoff cosmopolitans and Stella Artois beer. Musical entertainment will be provided by Chuck Grossman.Friday evening, the festival’s 25th Anniversary Gala will take place at 6 p.m. at the Top of the World Restaurant at the Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased online at http://www.breckfilmfest.com, at the Riverwalk Center box office by calling (970) 547-3100 or at the door. The evening will include appetizers, dinner, wine, dessert and dancing.The Smirnoff Martini Smash will take place Saturday evening in honor of the festival at 9 p.m. at Salt Creek.
