FIRC thanks Summit County

Christina Carlsonexecutive directorThe Family and Intercultural Resource Center

The Family and Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC) would like to thank David Preaus and Colorado Mountain Express and the community of Summit County for the fourth annual “Fill the Van” food drive conducted at the City Markets in Dillon and Breckenridge and the Safeway in Frisco on Nov. 6.A total of two tons of food items and generous cash donations totaling $400 was received during the drive. The FIRC received half, or one ton of food items and $200! This replenished our “thin” food bank and prepared us for the upcoming busy winter season. The second ton of food and the remaining $200 in cash donations was donated to the Department of Social Services Food Bank.It was an amazing surprise to receive such great donations as tuna fish, peanut butter, baby formula and food, hearty soups, pastas, dried beans, rice and other nutritious staples. It was apparent that those who donated gave what they could and what they could filled our food bank to the brim.Further, Summit County should be proud of the success it lends to the “Fill the Van” food drive, which has prompted Colorado Mountain Express to expand into Eagle and Roaring Fork Counties. Their first annual “Fill the Van” food drives were conducted and a total of two tons of food items, one from each county, was collected and distributed to their local agencies in need. Feel proud that you have set the bar in your giving!Thank you Summit County, Colorado Mountain Express and David Preaus!
