Fire engulfs spa shop in Eagle-Vail

EAGLE-VAIL, Colorado ” A fire engulfed the side of a pool and spa store in Eagle-Vail on Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters worked to douse flames at Maximum Comfort Pool and Spa along Highway 6 in the Eagle-Vail commercial area.

Vehicles near the building also appeared to be on fire.

Several engines from the Eagle River Fire Protection District responded, and the highway was closed to traffic through the area.

As fire trucks arrived at 1 p.m., tall flames and smoke were rising from the building.

Maximum Comfort is east of Ti Amo and Vail Discount Tire.

One person was taken to Vail Valley Medical Center, but the injuries were not disclosed, according to KUSA-Channel 9 TV in Denver.

During the fire, traffic on westbound I-70 was diverted for a time and authorities closed U.S. 6 while firefighters got the blaze under control, the television station reported.
