Former CDOT plow driver Daniel J. Kilkenny dies

Long-time Silverthorne resident Daniel (Dan) J. Kilkenny died Aug. 19 in Denver. He was 60. Dan was born Nov. 30, 1949 to James and Dolores Kilkenny, grew up in Westfield, N.J. and came to Summit county in 1974. Dan worked as a heavy equipment operator, plow driver and truck driver. In 1986, he took a job with the Colorado Department of Transportation plowing snow up to the Eisenhower Tunnel and on Vail and Loveland passes until his retirement in 2006.Dan loved hunting, camping and fishing with Chris, his loving wife of 25 years. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed Corvettes and spending time around the campfire playing poker with his friends and family. He is survived by his mother, Dolores Kilkenny; brother James Kilkenny; sister Maureen Swiontkowski; niece Erin and nephews Mike and Eric.A celebration of life is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Lord of the Mountains Church (56 US Hwy 6) in Dillon.
