Former sheriff backs current sheriff

Delbert EwoldtJulesburg

Within a matter of days, the voters of Summit County will be electing their sheriff. After having the distinction of serving the residents and visitors of Summit county as their elected sheriff for three terms, the feeling for this office and the people are of great importance to me. The message I need to convey to you the voters is, the sheriff that is serving you now is the sheriff to represent you for the future. I have known and worked with John Minor since I hired him in 1990. I have followed his career both personally and professionally. He brings integrity, honesty, dependability, decisiveness and compassion to this most important position. He also brings an undersheriff, Derek Woodman, who has served you since 1981. Derek brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this formidable team. I am asking that you keep the office of Summit County sheriff in the quality hands of Minor and Woodman. Oh yes, one more comment regarding Mr. Bob Williams’ letter dated July 22 concerning the qualifications for the position of sheriff. Sheriff Minor not only meets, but exceeds the state’s requirements for his position.
