Former Summit County resident Holly Nicholson dies

Holly Christine Nicholson, a former Summit County resident, passed away on Feb. 2 at her home in Sacramento, Calif.

Nicholson was born in Vail on Nov. 30, 1984. She was raised in Summit County until she moved to Lake County, Calif., in 1999.

She attended elementary and middle school in Summit County, where she enjoyed school, dance, skiing, snowboarding and volleyball, serving as the captain of the eighth-grade team for Summit County Middle School.

Nicholson loved to travel and was fluent in Spanish.

She graduated high school from Clover Valley High School in Upper Lake, Calif., in June of 2003. She then attended Mendocino Community College and graduated with her associate degree in psychology in May of 2008.

Nicholson was attending Sacramento State University studying to be a psychologist.

On June 21, 2004, NIcholson became the mother of a beautiful boy named Noah James Pady. She was a most loving and devoted mother and was engaged to be married this June to Anton Strolz, also of Sacramento.

Nicholson is survived by her mother, Maggie Freeman, and step-father, John Freeman, of Glenhaven, Calif.; father, Lindsay Nicholson, and step-mother, Margie Nicholson, of Tucson, Ariz.; sister Melissa Nicholson; nephew and godson Elijah Nicholson of Tucson; and grandmother Mildred Nicholson of Kenosha, Wisc.

She will be remembered for her beautiful spirit and loving heart by her family and friends, and deeply missed by all. Her devotion as a mother, daughter, friend and student touched us all.
