Fragile artistry: Hudnut’s history includes study with glass master Dale Chihuly

Summit County, CO Colorado
Summit County’s John Hudnut is a local glass artist who owns the Gatherhouse glassblowing studio in Frisco. He has traveled and studied around the world.
Hudnut started his journey as a glassblower as an apprentice in Paris. He continued his education at the school founded by world-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly, in Seattle, Wash., called Pilchuck.
Upon his return to the United States, Hudnut took a slow cross country trip to get insight from different glass artists in America.
“It took about 3 months and I visited pretty much every glassblower from Vermont to California,” says Hudnut.
He says that he draws much of his inspiration from the beauty of Summit County and skiing in the mornings.
Glassblowing classes and demonstations are available every week at his warehouse in Frisco. For more information about the Gatherhouse, visit www.gatherhouse.com.
