Free avy beacon clinic to be held Saturday

FRISCO – The fourth annual Summit County Free Beacon Clinic will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Frisco Nordic Center.The clinic is limited to 50 people, so pre-registration is recommended and can be done by stopping by the Frisco Nordic Center or by calling Mountain Outfitters at (970) 453-2201.”There will be representatives from Ortovox and Backcountry Access, who will have demo beacons for people to try,” said Brad Sawtell of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC). “It’s not only limited to those who have never used them before, it’s for people who want to hone their skills who already own a transceiver and want coaching from the company that makes it.”Ski patrollers from Breckenridge, Copper and A-Basin and Summit County staff from CAIC will also be on hand during the clinic.Most of the clinic is outdoors, so dress accordingly, Sawtell said.The Backcountry Brewery will provide free pizza and salad for attendees.- Daily News staff report
