Free car seat inspections today in Frisco

Local emergency responders will offer free car seat safety inspections today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue’s Frisco Station at 301 S. 8th Ave. They will also be there to educate parents on how to safely and properly install child car seats. The inspections will be done by recent students of a 40-hour technical class to become certified child safety seat inspectors. Many local agencies, ranging from the Sheriff’s Office to Silverthorne Police Department and Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue have multiple students in the class. The training, offered in Summit County for the first time in several years, is being funded by Summit County’s local “Safekids” Chapter, led by Shelly Almroth of Summit Medical Center. For parents and families not able to make Saturday’s event at the Frisco Fire Station, another opportunity to have seats inspected and pick up tips on how to safely use and install seats will come around again on June 2 at the “Safekids Summer Kick-Off” to be held at the Silverthorne Pavilion. Anyone interested in additional information for the event, please feel free to call Brandon Williams, Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue, at (970) 418-0562 or via e-mail
