Friends of the Dillon Ranger District thanks volunteers

Guff Van Vooren executive director, Friends of the Dillon Ranger District

Friends of the Dillon Ranger District (FDRD) would like to thank all of our “friends” who joined in on the fun at our National Forest Clean-up Day on May 21. These 25 volunteers and five Forest Service personnel generated 96 hours of volunteer stewardship for our National Forest lands. They filled up four trucks and one horse trailer with trash bags full of litter. By collecting litter at the various trailheads throughout Summit County, these volunteers helped to assure the pleasing experiences for future users of these incredibly popular trails. A special thanks goes out to our sponsors New Belgium Brewery, City Market, Keystone Resort and Safeway for providing us with much-deserved, delicious treats at the end of the day. For more information on FDRD, including membership, volunteer projects and volunteer crew leader opportunities, contact Guff Van Vooren at or (970) 389-6058.
