Friends of the Dillon Ranger District to present ‘Raptors of the Rockies’ today in Breckenridge

Wild Wings Education Center will join Friends of the Dillon Ranger District today for the April installment of the group’s Thrive Speaker Series, an educational event titled “Raptors of the Rockies.”

The free presentation begins at 5:30 p.m. today at Colorado Mountain College’s campus in Breckenridge, 107 Denison Placer Road.

The hour-long program will focus on birds of prey in the Rocky Mountain region, paying special attention to those found in Colorado. It will be an interactive program that will explore the tools and adaptations different raptors use to be successful in the wild.

Organizers say it will be family friendly and guaranteed to spike a sense of wonder for these creatures and the natural world.

The program also will feature live birds — a hawk, an owl and a falcon — all species that are found here in Colorado. The program will conclude with a discussion on the important roles these raptors play in the environment. For more, go to FDRD.org.
