Frisco Beetle Art Design Contest: Call to artists

Beetle Blockers Beetle Art Public Art Design Contest is under way. CSU Extension, in partnership with the Town of Frisco, invites artists to participate in the inaugural Beetle Blockers Beetle Art public art outreach event.

This event will showcase seven fiberglass beetle sculptures, adorned by winning artists, to be displayed in Frisco, throughout the summer of 2011. Artists should base their concept on the theme “Look to the Future,” and must submit their

two-dimensional proof of concept to the CSU Extension office by March 1. Each of the seven winning pieces of art will appear on one of the fiberglass beetle shells, with monetary awards going to the top 3 designs.

The Beetle Blockers Beetle Art will be placed in front of sponsoring businesses throughout the 2011 summer, serving to raise awareness of the effects of mountain pine beetle and the future of our forests. For more info, contact Dan Schroder at (970) 668-4140, or dan.schroder@colostate.edu.
